​​How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

When botulinum toxin enters the body via an injection it will temporarily prevent the muscle from moving, in turn this smooths wrinkles on the face. Botulinum toxins are also used for medical purposes to treat hyperhidrosis 

(excessive sweating) and can treat migraines. Our Injector will gently inject the toxin using a very fine needle.

The procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes allowing you to carry on with your daily routine as normal.

What is the difference between neurotoxins on the market?​

They are all essentially the same class of medications, under a class of neurotoxins type A. They are all administered by an injection with similar efficacy and duration intervals. They are basically like choosing from different brand names, example: Prada, Fendi, Gucci etc. as this is something you can better understand.

The difference is in the name of the toxin and the dosage administered, but for a patient, the efficacy is essentially the same. A Patient can try a different brand if needed and determine if they have a longer duration or effect.

On which areas can anti-wrinkle injections be used?

Anti-wrinkle injections are mainly administered around the face particularly the forehead, crow's feet, worry lines and around the eyes and the frown lines between the eyes on the bridge of the nose (glabellar wrinkles) Chin, nose.

Botulinum toxin injections can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Am I suitable?

You will be assessed to see if you are suitable for treatment.

You can’t be treated if:

• you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

• you are suffering from a skin infection near the treatment area.

• you previously had an allergic reaction to this treatment.

• you are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin.

• you have neurological issues or are taking certain medications.

Are anti-wrinkle injections painful?

Although everyone’s pain threshold is different, generally there is no more discomfort than say plucking an eyebrow. So, you may get a slight temporary stinging sensation. We can apply topical local anesthetic if needed.

Can it be reversed?

The effects of the anti-wrinkle injections will wear off within 3-6 months. They cannot be reversed.

It can be added if you want a stronger effect. Once it wears off you can choose to do the treatment again or not.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Millions of people have used anti-wrinkle injections over the years to minimize the signs of aging safely. It is only growing increasingly more popular. Providing the injections are administered by an experienced injector, the procedure is very safe with complications being extremely rare. Known side effects include headaches, bruising, face pain, redness, skin tightness, muscle weakness, swelling, sensitivity, raised eyebrows and a droopy eyelid.

How long does the procedure take?​

It is a fairly simple and quick procedure in the hands of an expert. No numbing or other special patient preparation required. It involves injection using a very small needle into the muscle groups, which takes seconds.

The smallest and thinnest needles on the market are used to ensure highest patient comfort.

How long does it take after administration to show results?​

It takes up to 14 days after the initial injection to achieve full response/relaxation. You may notice the onset in 3 to 7 days.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

This will differ from person to person, but patients can expect Botox / Jeuveau results to last between 3 to 6 months, Daxxify to last between 6 to 9 months.

How often can I have anti-wrinkle injections?

The length of time between treatment will vary depending on facial activity and your lifestyle. We recommend having a follow up treatment after 3-6 months.

Can I exercise after anti-wrinkle injections?

We don’t advise to exercise, sunbathe or sauna for 48 hours after anti-wrinkle injections treatment. Exercise increases blood flow through the muscles and can potentially diffuse the injections. We also advise not lying down for 4-6 hours after the treatment.

What are the most common side effects with administration?​

Redness, tenderness at the injection site, bumps, bruising are all common and very mild side effects reported immediately after the injection.

What are contraindications to receiving injections?​

Having a history of severe allergic reaction to any of the neurotoxins on the market. You must discuss this with your health care provider prior to receiving your treatment injection.​

Can you get Botox while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No, we do not recommend getting Botox while pregnant or breastfeeding.
